MS SB2195

Creates a Law Enforcement Supplemental Pay Program administered by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety to provide supplemental compensation to law enforcement officers for recruitment and retention purposes.

Requires full-time sworn, certified law enforcement officers employed by state agencies, Pearl River Valley Water Supply District, municipalities, or counties to complete 40 hours of annual in-service training approved by the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training.

Provides eligible law enforcement officers with additional state compensation of $1,000 per year beyond their existing pay from employers.

Prohibits the supplemental pay from being used to reduce or diminish compensation from other funding sources.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
