Increases the cap for annual salary supplements that county boards of supervisors may pay to sheriffs from $10,000 to $35,000.

Eliminates specific county-by-county supplement provisions (Leflore, Rankin, Neshoba, Tunica, Hinds, Wilkinson, Marshall, and Greene counties) and replaces them with a uniform discretionary supplement available to any county.

Removes provisions authorizing an additional $5,000 supplement for counties with juvenile detention centers and eliminates a separate supplemental authority previously numbered as subsection (11).

Includes a grandfather clause ensuring no sheriff receives less annual salary than what they earned on the effective date of the act.

Effective July 1, 2024.
