Requires the State Board of Education to mandate each educator preparation program include a course on mental disturbance awareness and trauma-informed approaches as part of school discipline or classroom management training.

Defines "mental disturbance awareness and trauma-informed approaches" as incorporating mental disturbance awareness, trauma awareness, and evidence-based practices recommended by the federal Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Specifies that trauma-informed approaches must foster a safe learning environment and ensure each student is known by at least one adult in the school setting.

Requires the Educator License Commission to approve all school discipline and classroom management courses offered by teacher education programs.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
