Senate Bill 2820 Summary

• Authorizes gaming to be conducted on vessels on the Pearl River or adjoining bodies of water within municipalities with a population of 145,000 or more according to the most recent federal decennial census.

• Amends multiple sections of Mississippi Code (67-1-71, 87-1-5, 97-33-1, 97-33-7, 97-33-17, 97-33-25, and 97-33-27) to add exemptions for gaming activities on Pearl River vessels, consistent with existing exemptions for Mississippi River vessels and coastal gaming vessels.

• Extends existing legal protections and exceptions for gaming to Pearl River vessel operations, including exemptions from seizure of gaming monies and gambling device prohibitions.

• Effective July 1, 2024.
