Mourns the passing of Larry Lynn "Butch" Brown, Sr., who died on April 25, 2023, at age 79, and recognizes his public service to South Mississippi.

Brown served as Mayor of Natchez from 1992-1996 and again from 2012 onward, overseeing major infrastructure projects including the Natchez Bluff, Convention Center, Visitor Center, Federal Courthouse, and improvements to water and sewer services.

Brown served as Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Transportation from 2001-2011, during which the state improved thousands of miles of roads and bridges, including Gulf Coast reconstruction following Hurricane Katrina.

Prior to his government service, Brown founded The Brown Lumber Company and Riverside Central Services, and was instrumental in establishing a Natchez Campus of Copiah-Lincoln Community College and the Mississippi-Louisiana Interstate Bridge Compact.

Resolution directs the presentation of this concurrent resolution to Brown's surviving family, the Mayor and City Council of Natchez, the Mississippi Transportation Commission, and MDOT leadership.
