Extends the deepest sympathy of the Mississippi Legislature to the family and friends of Margarett Louise Allen-Bingham, who passed away on November 2, 2023.

Honors Margarett Allen-Bingham as the first female superintendent of a correctional facility in Mississippi, making history on January 1, 2005, and the first female lieutenant and deputy warden in state corrections history.

Recognizes her distinguished 35-year career with the Mississippi Department of Corrections beginning in 1976 and her service on the Board of Directors of the Center for Independent Learning/The Friendship Connection recovery center for women in Jackson.

Acknowledges her dedication to education, advocacy, and direct services that promoted self-esteem and dignity for incarcerated women and those struggling with addiction, as well as her commitment to her family and faith at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church.

Directs the resolution be presented to her family, the Center for Independent Learning board president, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
