Long Beach High School "Bearcats" won their fourth consecutive MHSAA Class 6A State Championship with a 3-2 victory over Center Hill on February 17, 2024, in Gluckstadt, Mississippi.

Easton Van Norden scored the game-winning goal off a free kick in the 79th minute, while Braiden Bonds was named the game's most valuable player and scored two goals.

The Bearcats became the first team since Pearl (2005-2008) to win four consecutive state championships and made their eighth straight appearance in the championship game.

Senate commends and congratulates Coach Matt DeFillips and the 26-member roster for bringing honor to their school, community, and the State of Mississippi.

Resolution directs that copies be presented to Coach DeFillips, Long Beach Principal Justin Sutton, the Board of Trustees of the Long Beach School District, and the Capitol Press Corps.
