MS HB1220

Requires all health insurance policies and health plans issued, renewed, or continued on or after July 1, 2025, to provide 100% coverage for hemoglobin A1c screenings as part of annual wellness exams with no deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, or other cost-sharing requirements.

Applies to all health insurance providers operating in Mississippi including health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, and health service corporations, with exemption for self-funded employer plans governed by ERISA.

Designates the Department of Insurance as enforcement authority with power to impose penalties on non-compliant health insurance providers under Title 83, Chapter 5.

Amends Section 25-15-9 to require the State and School Employees Health Insurance Plan to provide hemoglobin A1c screening coverage as part of annual wellness exams.

Establishes definitions for hemoglobin A1c screening as a blood test measuring average blood glucose over 2-3 months used to diagnose and monitor diabetes and pre-diabetes.
