MS HB1225

Establishes the Paramedics Recruitment and Retention Scholarship Program administered by the Office of Workforce Development to provide grants covering tuition, fees, books, uniforms, and National Registry exam fees for paramedic training.

Requires applicants to be certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) with necessary prerequisites for an accredited paramedic program and commit to working in Mississippi for a minimum of three years.

Allows the Office of Workforce Development to use up to 5% of appropriated funds for program administration and to prescribe terms, conditions, and other eligibility requirements.

Removes specific repayment obligations and conditions from grant contracts, allowing the Office of Workforce Development to determine appropriate obligations and conditions for each grant agreement.

Effective date is July 1, 2025.
