House Bill 1400 Summary

• Requires all group health plans and health insurance issuers offering group or individual coverage to include coverage for clinical genetic testing for inherited gene mutations in individuals with personal or family history of cancer recommended by a health care professional.

• Mandates coverage for evidence-based cancer imaging for individuals with increased risk of cancer as recommended by National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) clinical practice guidelines.

• Prohibits health plans and insurers from imposing any cost-sharing requirements (deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, or out-of-pocket expenses) for the genetic testing and cancer imaging services covered under this bill.

• Creates exception for health savings account-qualified high deductible health plans, allowing cost-sharing after the minimum deductible is met, except for preventive care items.

• Brings forward Section 25-15-9, Mississippi Code of 1972, regarding the State Employees Life and Health Insurance Plan, with effective date of July 1, 2025.
