MS HB1522

Authorizes local school district boards to adopt policies allowing the sale of computers, peripheral equipment, and adaptive devices to Grade 12 students who have satisfied all graduation requirements and possess district-issued devices.

Requires students meeting eligibility criteria to pay the residual value for the cost of district-issued computer devices, peripheral equipment, or adaptive devices.

All sales are final and without warranty of merchantability given the prior and extended use of the devices.

All proceeds from sales must be deposited into the school maintenance fund as provided under Section 37-7-457.

Applies to both traditional public school districts and charter schools authorized by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board; effective July 1, 2025.
