House Bill 266 - Mississippi Minimum Wage Law

• Establishes state minimum wage at $10.00 per hour for most employees, effective July 1, 2025.

• Sets tipped employee minimum wage at $3.62 per hour for employees who customarily receive more than $30 per month in tips.

• Requires overtime compensation at 1.5 times regular rate for employees earning $455 or less per week, plus manual laborers, law enforcement, and certain other worker categories regardless of salary.

• Prohibits counties and municipalities from establishing local minimum wage or mandatory benefits requirements, reserving wage policy decisions to the state legislature.

• Brings forward nine existing Mississippi Code sections for possible amendment related to internship programs, election administration, school employee leave, economic development, wage garnishment, human trafficking, and criminal sentencing.
