• Prohibits sale, distribution, or giving of assault weapons to persons under age 21, with exception for United States Armed Forces members.

• Defines "assault weapons" to include selective-fire firearms, over 150 named semiautomatic firearms, semiautomatic rifles/pistols with certain features (detachable magazines, folding stocks, pistol grips, flash suppressors), and shotguns with revolving cylinders.

• Amends Section 97-37-1 to add exception language referencing the assault weapons prohibition and removes references to mufflers/silencers in concealed carry restrictions.

• Amends Sections 45-9-53 and 45-9-57 to add exception language allowing local assault weapons regulations in conformity with Section 1 of the act.

• Brings forward Section 45-9-101 regarding the concealed carry license process with technical updates and conforming amendments.
