Law enforcement agencies must notify the Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training within 72 hours when a certified officer resigns, using written notice and email.

Agencies must notify the board within 72 hours of any officer termination or resignation due to disciplinary action and provide a written explanation for the disciplinary action.

Agencies that fail to comply with reporting requirements become ineligible for state grants, subsidiary funding, and continuing education reimbursement during the period of noncompliance.

The board must provide notice and opportunity for a hearing before determining an agency failed to meet reporting requirements, and agencies may appeal board decisions using standard appeal procedures.

The bill takes effect July 1, 2025, and amends Section 45-6-11 of Mississippi Code regarding law enforcement officer certification and standards.
