Increases the maximum annual salary for full-time criminal investigators appointed by district attorneys from $63,000 to $75,000 per annum, effective July 1, 2025.

Allows district attorneys to determine individual investigator compensation within the $75,000 maximum based on qualifications, education, and experience, plus necessary travel and other expenses.

Permits district attorneys to supplement salary up to the legal assistant maximum for criminal investigators who hold law degrees, using other available funds.

Maintains existing provisions allowing district attorneys in specified circuit court districts to appoint multiple full-time criminal investigators, with the Seventh Circuit permitted up to four investigators.

Prohibits district attorneys and assistant district attorneys from accepting private employment in matters investigated by their criminal investigators.
