Amends Mississippi Code Section 97-37-5 to allow persons convicted of nonviolent felonies to possess and use firearms and deadly weapons (bowie knives, dirk knives, butcher knives, switchblade knives, metallic knuckles, blackjacks, and firearm silencers) for defense of their residence or motor vehicle.

Requires that nonviolent felons prove they reside in the home or own the motor vehicle where the firearm or weapon is located to qualify for the exemption.

Maintains existing prohibitions on firearm and weapon possession for violent felons, unless they receive a pardon, federal relief from disability, or a state certificate of rehabilitation.

Preserves the certificate of rehabilitation process allowing any convicted felon to petition courts for restoration of firearms rights upon showing rehabilitation and law-abiding conduct since sentence completion.

Takes effect July 1, 2025.
