HB 769 Summary

• Amends Section 65-3-143.2 of the Mississippi Code to revise the designated parameters of the Coahoma County Highway within the state highway system

• Removes the portion of United States Highway 61 that extends to the point of intersection with the eastern city limits of Friars Point, Mississippi from state highway designation

• Maintains state highway designation for the segment beginning six-tenths of a mile east of Mississippi Highway 316 termination, extending northwesterly to the intersection with U.S. Highways 49 and 61, and extending westerly from that intersection (minus the Friars Point segment)

• The Mississippi Transportation Commission retains responsibility for construction and maintenance of the remaining designated highway segment once it meets commission standards and all encroachments are removed or relocated

• Effective July 1, 2025
