Creates misdemeanor offense for removing or assisting in removal of street, road or highway signs, punishable by fine up to $1,000 per offense.

Elevates offense to felony with imprisonment up to 5 years and/or fine up to $10,000 when aggregate value of removed signs exceeds $1,000 but is less than $5,000.

Amends Section 97-17-71 to add street, road and highway signs to the list of metal property that scrap metal dealers are prohibited from purchasing, except from state, political subdivisions, municipal utilities, or manufacturers.

Establishes that scrap metal dealers cannot purchase signs unless the source is the state, a political subdivision, municipal utility, or manufacturer of the metal.

Effective date July 1, 2025.
