Commends the life and legacy of former Mississippi State Auditor Patrick "Pete" Johnson, who passed away on January 20, 2025

Johnson served as State Auditor from 1988 to 1992, implementing reforms that consolidated county services, enforced uniform accounting practices, and implemented a standardized bid process that saved millions in taxpayer dollars

Appointed by President George H.W. Bush as Mississippi State Director of the Farmers Home Administration in 1992 and served as Federal Co-Chair of the Delta Regional Authority from 2002 through 2011 under both Bush and Obama administrations

Received the Goodman, Chaney, Schwerner Award from the Mississippi Chapter of the NAACP in 1987 for contributions to improving political power for all people, and the Dr. Aaron Henry Lifetime Service Award for outstanding statewide leadership

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Birdsong Johnson; daughters Mary Margaret and Anne Clark; three sisters; and five grandchildren
