Recognizes and commends Mr. Jerry Sims for his exceptional success in business and outstanding legacy in track and field at Alcorn State University.

Co-holder of world record in 60-meter indoor dash (5.9 seconds) set in 1971 and NAIA All-American in indoor and outdoor track and field; some records still stand at Alcorn after 50+ years.

Earned master's degree in science and education from Jackson State University (1975) and master's degree in counseling from Alcorn State University (1989); served as fixed asset manager at Alcorn for 35 years until retirement in 2014.

President, founder and owner of Mr. Sparkles Maintenance Services with three decades of successful business operations serving Fortune 500 companies; received multiple awards including Bill Pope Property Award (2013), Property Manager of the Year (2013), and Property Officer of the Year (2001).

Served as vice president of Jefferson County Hospital Board and currently sponsors Alcorn State University's Saturday STEM program.
