Recognizes Hubert Creekmore (1907-1966), a Water Valley-born American author, poet, translator, and literary critic who made significant contributions to 20th-century literature.

Honors Creekmore's diverse literary works including poetry collections (Personal Sun, The Long Reprieve and Other Poems from New Caledonia), three novels (The Fingers of the Night, The Welcome, The Chain in the Heart), and translations that addressed social issues and racial discrimination in the South.

Acknowledges Creekmore's educational achievements including graduation from the University of Mississippi in 1927, work with the Federal Writers' Project, and a master's degree from Columbia University in 1940 focused on Ezra Pound's metrics.

Establishes Hubert Creekmore Day in Water Valley, Mississippi to honor his literary legacy, which is preserved in the Hubert Creekmore Collection at the University of Mississippi.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to Creekmore's family and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
