Commends the Mississippi State University Department of Landscape Architecture on its 60th anniversary and recognizes its contributions to education, innovation, and environmental stewardship.

Department traces its origins to 1878 when Mississippi A&M was established as a land-grant institution, with Landscape Gardening coursework introduced in 1879 and a formal Landscape Architecture curriculum established in 1964.

Program evolved to include a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (B.L.A.) degree starting in 1967, a Master of Landscape Architecture (M.L.A.) program beginning in 2000, and accreditation achieved in 1973 and 2008 respectively.

Department was renamed to the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design in 2024 and absorbed the Environmental Science major, adding concentrations in Landscape Business Management and Landscape Ecosystem Management.

MSU will host celebration events for the department's 60th anniversary on September 18-20, 2025, recognizing its history and continued commitment to academic excellence and sustainable land-use planning.
