Creates the crime of reckless endangerment for conduct that recklessly places another person in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury.

Basic reckless endangerment is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $500, imprisonment in county jail up to one year, or both.

Reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon is a felony punishable by a fine up to $3,000 and imprisonment in the Department of Corrections for 1-6 years, or both.

Reckless endangerment by discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling is a felony punishable by a fine up to $10,000 and imprisonment for 3-15 years, or both.

Reckless endangerment by discharging a firearm into an unoccupied dwelling is a felony punishable by a fine up to $5,000 and imprisonment for 2-12 years, or both; effective July 1, 2025.
