MS SB2178

Amends Section 37-7-301 of the Mississippi Code to add a new power to school boards authorizing them to vote to provide health insurance to school board members and their eligible dependents.

Health insurance benefits must be paid exclusively with local funds and cannot utilize state funds.

School boards retain discretionary authority to decide whether to implement such health insurance programs through a voting process.

Effective date is July 1, 2025.
