Senate Bill 2250 Summary

• Adds certified industrial hygienist certification as a qualifying credential for management planners and project designers, alongside existing requirements for licensed professional engineers and architects.

• Allows completion of EPA-authorized asbestos programs to satisfy training course requirements for management planners, project designers, air monitors, contractors, supervisors, inspectors, and workers.

• Removes several statutory definitions (abatement, air monitor, asbestos-containing materials, contractor, inspector, management plan, management planner, operations and maintenance program, project designer, school, school building, supervisor, and worker) while retaining core definitions and authorizing the commission to adopt additional definitions by regulation.

• Maintains annual certificate renewal requirements for all asbestos abatement personnel while accepting EPA-approved training courses as equivalent to state-approved courses.

• Effective July 1, 2025.
