SB 2664 Summary

• Enacts the Dietitian Licensure Compact into Mississippi law, allowing dietitians licensed in member states to practice in other compact member states through a "compact privilege" without obtaining separate state licenses.

• Establishes the Dietitian Licensure Compact Commission as an interstate governing body with representatives from each member state to oversee licensure portability, maintain a data system for licensee information, and promulgate rules.

• Requires dietitians exercising compact privileges to hold an unencumbered license in their home state, meet educational and examination standards, complete criminal background checks, and comply with remote state laws and jurisprudence requirements.

• Grants remote states authority to take disciplinary action against dietitians' compact privileges, while only home states can take adverse action against home state licenses; automatic revocation of all compact privileges occurs if home state license becomes encumbered.

• Amends existing Mississippi dietitian licensure law to recognize compact privileges and allow nonresident dietitians holding compact privileges to practice without the previous five-day-per-year limitation; effective July 1, 2025.
