Brings forward Section 25-31-10, Mississippi Code of 1972, which authorizes district attorneys to appoint full-time criminal investigators, with allowances for 1 to 4 additional investigators depending on the circuit court district.

Allows district attorneys to employ additional legal assistants and criminal investigators beyond authorized limits if funded through non-state sources including county boards, municipalities, federal funds, private grants, or interlocal agreements.

Sets maximum criminal investigator salary at $63,000 per annum, with potential supplementation for investigators with law degrees up to the maximum legal assistant salary from alternative funds.

Takes effect July 1, 2025.
