SB 2826 Summary

• Redirects standard license tag fees and distinctive license tag additional fees from the State General Fund into the Motor Vehicle Ad Valorem Tax Reduction Fund created in Section 27-51-105.

• Eliminates or reroutes portions of distinctive license tag fees for universities, Ducks Unlimited, and Rebuild the Coast.org that were previously deposited to the State General Fund.

• Modifies distribution of personalized and specialty license tag fees by removing allocations to the State General Fund and redirecting to highway funds or other designated accounts.

• Changes the annual lapse provision for the Department of Revenue License Tag Acquisition Fund so that unexpended amounts above $500,000 lapse into the Motor Vehicle Ad Valorem Tax Reduction Fund instead of the State General Fund, effective fiscal year 2025.

• Effective date: June 30, 2025.
