MS SB2834

Prohibits the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services from contracting with business entities whose primary purpose is software development or artificial intelligence research and development in mainland China or countries sanctioned by the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).

Requires all contracts entered into by the Department contain written verification that the business entity does not own, operate, or substantially fund a facility or research entity engaged in software development or AI research and development in mainland China or BIS-sanctioned countries.

Applies the restriction to contracts for computer equipment, telecommunications equipment, systems, related services, cloud computing, and wireless communication devices.

Voids and makes unenforceable any contract entered into in violation of these provisions.

Effective July 1, 2025.
