Extends sympathy of the Mississippi Senate and House to the family of Charles James Pittman, who passed away on August 27, 2024, at age 76.

Pittman served as a State Senator representing Grenada, Yalobusha and Tallahatchie Counties beginning at age 31, and later served as a staff member to Governor Haley Barbour.

Founded the "MS Singing Senators" in 1989 and famously sang the national anthem at the November 19, 1983 "Egg Bowl" game between University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University.

Received the Mississippi State Senate's Distinguished Service Award for Public Service in 1997 and had "Charles Pittman Day" declared by Governor Barbour on December 14, 2011.

Survived by wife Kathy Hannan Pittman; daughters Michelle Cox and Shauna Sullins; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
