Extends the condolences of the Mississippi Senate to the surviving family of John Wesley Johnson, legendary news director at WTOK-TV in Meridian who passed away after working at the station for over 32 years until his last day on December 30, 2016

Commends Johnson's career of public service, including his work as WTOK-TV News Director since 1985 and his service on national, state, and local boards, including his role as president of the Board of Trustees at Meridian Community College in 2010-11

Recognizes Johnson's educational background as a 1968 graduate of Rust College with a degree in social science and a master of fine arts degree in theater from the University of Iowa, as well as his nine-year teaching career at Rust College

Notes Johnson's induction into the Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2006 and the proclamation of December 15, 2016, as John Johnson Day by the mayor of Meridian, who presented him the key to the city

Directs that the resolution be presented to Johnson's surviving family, including his wife Pranati and daughters Joya and Anjali, and forwarded to the Board of Directors of WTOK-TV
