Jim Ellis is being commended and congratulated upon his retirement after 46 years as the play-by-play announcer for Mississippi State University baseball.

Ellis broadcasted 33 NCAA Regional appearances, seven SEC Tournament titles, five SEC championships, 11 College World Series trips, and one national championship during his tenure beginning in 1979.

Ellis earned the nickname "The Voice of the Diamond Dawgs" and was named "Outstanding Broadcaster in Mississippi" by the National Sports Media Association in 1998, 2002, 2013, and 2014.

The Jim Ellis Broadcast Suite and Jim Ellis Broadcast Booth at Dudy Noble Field were dedicated in 2019, and Ellis was inducted into the Ron Polk Ring of Honor in 2024.

The resolution directs that copies be presented to Jim Ellis, Mississippi State University President Dr. Mark Keenum, and the Capitol Press Corps.
