Extends sympathy of the Mississippi Senate to the surviving family of Hinds County Senior Circuit Court Judge William Swan Yerger, who passed away on August 1, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama

Judge Yerger was appointed to the Hinds County Circuit Court by Governor Kirk Fordice in 1996, elected to three additional four-year terms, and served as Senior Judge from 2002 until his retirement at the end of 2010

Fifth-generation Mississippian who graduated from Virginia Military Institute and Ole Miss, served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, and attended University of Virginia Law School

Founded and led numerous civic organizations including the Mississippi Arts Festival, North Jackson Rotary Club, and served as Chairman of the Metropolitan Jackson YMCA
