Recognizes and congratulates Dr. Phyllis Polk Johnson, Executive Director of the Mississippi Board of Nursing, on her appointment as President of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)

Dr. Johnson has served as MSBON Executive Director since 2017, overseeing regulation of approximately 70,000 nurses in Mississippi, and previously directed Advanced Practice and Licensure with over 35 years of nursing experience

NCSBN is comprised of nursing regulatory bodies from all 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and the Virgin Islands, with a mandate to protect the public

Dr. Johnson holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Alcorn State University (4.0 GPA), MSN and BSN degrees from Mississippi University for Women, and a Master of Science in Biology from Jackson State University, and retired as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves in 2013

Senate extends best wishes to Dr. Johnson and directs the resolution be presented to her, the Mississippi Board of Nursing, and NCSBN
