SB 2015 - Department of Public Safety Appropriations

• Appropriates $168,604,209.00 from the State General Fund and $117,126,547.00 from the State Treasury to the Department of Public Safety for fiscal year 2026 (July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026).

• Allocates $154,691,960.00 for personal services including employee salaries, wages, and fringe benefits, with authorization for 1,698 permanent and 74 time-limited headcount positions, including 4 new positions (1 Medical Examiner, 1 Pathology Assistant, 2 Sexual Assault Kit personnel).

• Authorizes transfer of up to $20,000,000.00 between divisions and special funds, and provides $5,000,000.00 expected from Mississippi Department of Transportation for Commercial Transportation Enforcement operations.

• Establishes performance targets for fiscal year 2026 across enforcement, driver services, forensic analysis, drug enforcement, training, and other agency functions, with reporting requirements to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee.

• Appropriates Capital Expense Funds totaling $7,137,879.00 for vehicles, facility repairs, driver license system upgrades, forensics equipment, and other capital projects, plus $294,862.00 for vendor payments from prior fiscal years.
