Authorizes the Mississippi Department of Public Safety to investigate the death of any current or former elected or appointed public official at the state, county, or municipal level when the official is killed or the circumstances of death are questionable

Named the "Representative Ashley Henley Investigation Authority Act" after the former state representative who died under suspicious circumstances

Adds this investigative authority to the existing powers of the Highway Safety Patrol and Bureau of Investigation under Section 45-3-21 of the Mississippi Code

Allows the Governor to invoke these investigative powers by proclamation without requiring a request from local law enforcement, unlike other provisions in the statute

Effective date of July 1, 2026
