MS HB1150

Merges the separate licensing systems for land surveyors and professional engineers under a single Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors, consisting of six licensed professional engineers and three licensed professional surveyors.

Extends board member terms from four years to six years, with staggered initial appointments beginning July 1, 2026, and requires members to be at least 35 years old with 10 years of licensed practice experience.

Increases various fees: application fees rise from $25 to $100, professional engineer/surveyor license renewal fees increase from $50 to $125, and certificate of authority fees for firms increase from $50 to $200.

Exempts sole proprietorships owned by licensees and professional associations of licensed engineers or surveyors from obtaining a certificate of authority to practice.

Allows licensed surveyors to enter private lands for surveying purposes without criminal trespass liability, with limited civil liability, and repeals the existing separate land surveyor licensing statutes (Sections 73-13-71 through 73-13-105).
