Creates new insurance requirements for motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or gross combination weight rating (GCWR) over 10,000 pounds used to transport property on public highways that are not already covered under existing carrier regulations

Requires owners/operators of these large vehicles to file proof of insurance or a bond with the Mississippi Transportation Commission, covering personal injuries and property damage claims from vehicle operation

Sets minimum insurance amounts at federal standards specified in 49 CFR Part 387 (U.S. Department of Transportation requirements)

Insurance must be issued by a company authorized to transact business in Mississippi, or operators may file approved bonds as an alternative

Takes effect July 1, 2026
