Directors of electric power associations will be elected on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November 2026, and every four years thereafter, following the same procedures as public school board trustee elections

Runoff elections, if necessary, will be held three weeks after the initial election

Current three-year director terms continue until July 1, 2026, at which point the new four-year election cycle begins

Candidates for director must obtain at least 50 member signatures to qualify by petition, though associations may adopt less restrictive qualification requirements through their bylaws

The bill brings forward the entire Electric Power Association Law (Sections 77-5-201 through 77-5-259) for potential future amendment while maintaining existing provisions on corporate powers, membership, rates, property disposition, and regulatory oversight
