Beginning January 1, 2029, Mississippi state senators and representatives would receive annual compensation equal to 15% of the Governor's salary, replacing the current $10,000 per regular session rate established in 1986

Legislators would continue receiving $75 per day for extraordinary or called sessions, plus mileage allowances for travel to and from the capitol

Monthly expense payments of $1,500 for office-related costs would remain unchanged for senators, representatives, and the Lieutenant Governor during months when the Legislature is not in session

The bill updates gendered language in the statute from "his" to "his or her"

Effective date is July 1, 2026, with the salary increase taking effect January 1, 2029
