Vehicle or vessel owners can reclaim their property during the towing process by paying a service fee of no more than one-half of the posted towing rate, with a signed receipt required upon payment.

Property owners must post tow-away zone signs with specific requirements including 4-inch high "tow-away zone" lettering, 2-inch reflective letters stating vehicles will be towed at owner's expense, and the towing company's name and phone number.

Towing companies must maintain $1,000,000 in general liability insurance, attend annual certified training, carry a valid business license, and cannot be owned by convicted felons.

Tow trucks must display the company name in at least 3-inch letters and address/phone number in at least 1-inch letters on both driver and passenger sides.

Persons who improperly cause a vehicle to be towed are liable for removal costs, transportation, storage, damages, attorney's fees, and court costs; the law takes effect July 1, 2026.
