Revises the definition of "law enforcement officer" for the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters Scholarship to include any officer certified and in good standing with the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Standards and Training

Removes specific categorical listings of eligible officers (state highway patrolmen, municipal police, sheriffs, conservation officers, ABC agents, tax commission officers, Bureau of Narcotics agents) in favor of the broader certification-based definition

Removes probation and parole officers from the list of eligible correctional officers under the Mississippi Department of Corrections

Retains eligibility for constables and National Guard members serving as peace officers during state emergencies

Takes effect October 1, 2026
