Communication impediments are categorized into three types: speech or language impairment, hearing impairment, or autism spectrum disorder

Department of Revenue may request verification of the condition through written statements from licensed physicians, psychologists, social workers, counselors, speech-language pathologists, or other qualified healthcare providers

Vehicle registration information for those who opt in will be shared with the Department of Public Safety and entered into the Mississippi Criminal Information Center to alert officers during traffic stops

All information about applicants' health conditions remains confidential, license plates cannot display visible markings indicating a communication impediment without consent, and contractors with database access are prohibited from disclosing this information
