Law enforcement officers facing reprimand, suspension, cancellation, or recall of their certification by the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Standards and Training are entitled to discovery under the Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure during board hearings

Officers may appeal board findings and orders to chancery court within 30 days of the board's final order

Officers whose certification is cancelled may reapply for certification no sooner than two years after the cancellation order becomes final

Law enforcement agencies must notify the board in writing and by email within 72 hours when an officer resigns or is terminated, including an explanation if the separation was due to disciplinary action

Effective date is July 1, 2026
