Sex offenders in Mississippi must register with the sheriff of their county of residence in addition to registering with the responsible agency and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety

Registrants must provide all required information to the county sheriff within three (3) business days after first residing in or returning to a county

Any changes to address, employment, name, vehicle information, email addresses, or other required information must be reported to both the Department of Public Safety and the county sheriff within three (3) business days

Sex offenders volunteering with organizations that have unsupervised contact with minors must provide written notification of their conviction no less than three (3) business days before volunteering, rather than at the time of volunteering

The bill takes effect July 1, 2026
