Dr. Kim Welch Hoover is commended by the Mississippi Legislature for over 40 years of service as a practicing nurse, nurse educator, and health care administrator

Earned her bachelor's degree from Northeast Louisiana University and completed her master's and Ph.D. in clinical health sciences at the University of Mississippi, receiving the Nursing Alumni Graduate of the Year Award

Served as dean and tenured professor at UMMC School of Nursing until retiring as Professor Emeritus in 2019, and currently serves as President and CEO of the Mississippi Hospital Association Foundation

Named the inaugural Senior Nurse Fellow for Mississippi State University School of Nursing at MSU-Meridian, focusing on developing solutions to nursing workforce challenges

Received numerous honors including the Phil Hardin Award for Distinguished Service to Mississippi, Nightingale Nursing School Administrator of the Year, and Mississippi Organization of Nurse Executives Nurse Leader of the Year
