Christopher Price Newman, a Clinton, Mississippi native, is retiring after a law enforcement career spanning from 1992 to 2024 across multiple agencies including City of Starkville Police, U.S. Border Patrol, Covington County Sheriff's Office, Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, Mississippi Attorney General's Office, and Mississippi Department of Revenue

Newman graduated from the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Center in 1993 with awards for highest academic and overall averages, and later earned certifications as an NRA Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor and Certified Fraud Examiner

Served with U.S. Border Patrol in Douglas, Arizona as part of the Bike Patrol Unit, intercepting drug shipments and securing the border

Recognized as "Top Cop" in 2013 for securing an indictment and conviction against a notorious timber thief while working for the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce

Promoted to Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Mississippi Department of Revenue in March 2024, where the division achieved nearly 300% growth in criminal cases worked, indictments, and convictions for Fiscal Year 2025
