Entered U.S. Army service at Camp Shelby in October 1944 at age 18, served in Nuremberg during World War II, and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant leading a platoon guarding German prisoners

Received the Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal before being honorably discharged in 1947

After military service, returned to Dennis, Mississippi to work the family farm, later worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing until retirement, and settled in Golden, Mississippi with his wife Nita

The Mississippi House of Representatives commends his century of life and selfless military service, wishing him continued health and happiness
