Mississippi House Resolution commends DeMarcus "Shoutout 2 D Ford" Ford for his contributions to Southern Soul music as a musician, producer, and songwriter

Ford was born in Indianola, Mississippi, educated at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in Mound Bayou, and currently resides in Belzoni, Mississippi

Began playing guitar at age 16, influenced by his brother-in-law Terrence Liddell and blues legend Muddy Waters, and later drew inspiration from Mississippi hip-hop artist David Banner for beat-making and branding

Multi-instrumentalist proficient in guitar, bass, and piano with production credits including "Keep On Stepping" by Mike Clark, Jr., "Welcome to the Country" by Arthur Young, and hundreds of additional recordings

Resolution recognizes Ford as an ambassador of Mississippi's cultural legacy who preserves Southern Soul music for future generations through his work in juke joints, dance halls, and trail rides across the South
