Establishes the Mississippi Democratic Accountability in Board Appointments Act, effective July 1, 2026

Removes restrictions that require appointing authorities to select state board and commission members from pre-approved lists generated by the boards themselves or professional associations

Grants the person or entity with appointing authority full discretion to select any qualified candidate for state board or commission appointments

Nullifies preexisting laws requiring appointments from nomination lists, while still allowing appointing authorities to consider recommendations from any individual or group

Maintains the default four-year term for officers whose terms are not otherwise specified by law
